What to put on a lawyer's or law firm's website
A person who needs a lawyer compares several before picking up the phone. On the site they look for three answers: whether the firm takes their matter, how the fee is set and who will actually work on it. The page that answers these gets a booking for a consultation.
1. The matters you take
Write in the client's words, not in the names of branches of law. "Inheriting a flat from parents", "an office lease", "registering as a sole trader", "a tax inspection" are found faster than "civil law" or "commercial disputes".
For each area write what exactly you do: draw up a contract, represent in court, handle a registration.
2. How the fee is set
The fear of an open-ended bill keeps people from calling. Write which model you work on and what a first consultation costs.
Three typical models are easy to show in a table: a fixed sum per matter, hourly pay, a monthly subscription for a business. Each one shows what is included and what is not. The comparison block in FastSite holds up to four options.
3. Specialists
A client chooses a person, not the name of a firm. For each lawyer give a photo, an area of practice and years in practice. Write who handles the matter from start to finish and who answers the client's questions.
4. Confidentiality
One sentence saying that whatever is said at the consultation stays between you and the client removes a worry nobody asks about aloud.
5. Documents for the client
A list of documents to bring to the first meeting and a questionnaire to fill in. The client downloads the file from the page and arrives prepared. For each file give the type and the size.
6. Booking a consultation
A form where the client picks a subject, a day and a time. The booking arrives in your panel and in Telegram. Next to the form write how long the consultation lasts and whether it can be held online.
What builds trust
- Short articles about typical situations clients face.
- The number of years in practice and the fields you work in.
- The office address on a map and the hours you receive clients.
- Reviews from clients, published with their consent.
How clients find a lawyer in Google
The query is always specific: "divorce lawyer Lviv", "inheritance registration Kyiv", "online accountant for a sole trader". Name the city and the question right in the text of the page.
A short article on one situation works better than a general page about services. For example, "which documents you need to inherit a flat" is found for the query, while a "Services" section gets lost among a hundred similar ones.
A Google Maps profile with reviews and a link to the site gives one more way in. How to create one is described step by step.
Mistakes that send a client elsewhere
- A list of branches of law instead of specific matters.
- Not a word about the fee and payment.
- A list of lawyers with no photo and no area of practice.
- A promise of a result nobody can guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Should I write prices for legal services?
Write at least the payment model and the price of a first consultation. The exact sum for a matter can be named after a conversation, but the client should see the order of the sum beforehand.
Can I show cases that were won?
Only with the client's written consent and without details that identify them. It is safer to describe a typical situation and the course of the work without names. Advocates and notaries should also check the rules of their professional body on advertising.
Does such a page suit a notary or an accountant?
It does. Change the list of matters and fees, and the other blocks stay the same.
Where to start
The minimum to start with: the list of matters, the payment model, specialists and booking. The FastSite template for a law firm already has these blocks. What to prepare in advance is in a short checklist, and what a website costs is covered separately. Why a page may bring no requests is described here.
